Spamming for Content

Have just, like many others in the community, received an email addressing a new portal for Project Managers called PM-now:

In the pursuit of professional knowledge and best practice coupled with the enthusiasm gained at a recent PM conference, we have taken upon ourselves to act and create the site PM-Now .

PM-Now is a free, collaboration / knowledge base website open to all, affiliated to no particular organisation, that allows PM’s to communicate about issues that mean something to them.

To help encourage discussion, the site initially started with Let’s Talk which included a Blog section for discussing the PMoz Conference 2008 and all the presentations at this Conference.

So as to make the knowledge base whole, the site is still missing a very important component; that is, presentations and final papers about subjects of interest.

PM-Now would like to be able to provide these to the PM Community and are seeking papers and presentations with the authors approval. If authors would like to be a part of this and submit papers for publication on the site, please email PM–Now .

After most of the presenters at the PMOZ 2008 Conference in Melbourne (that I have talked about earlier) have been approached to agree that their presentations and papers can be published on that new portal, the community is now aggressively been approached to get into a discussion about that content and others.

Guys, there are smarter ways to get people involved. I have learned the hard way, that Australia is all about building relationships, which from my perception does’nt work in spamming the PM community with unpersonal emails and by taking advantage of others people content.

Beside that the site still looks very empty (beside a comment from a guy from Peru and two approved presentations and papers.

Its still a long way and quite a bumpy untrusting start by spamming the users in that way.
